Program

WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US IN WASHINGTON, DC FOR THE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION AND 99TH ANNUAL MEETING OF THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF MAMMALOGISTS!

This year’s meeting will offer an exciting program with six workshops, five symposia, two plenary sessions, one capstone session, in addition to the diversity of high-quality contributed papers and posters. Workshops will provide training in using de novo genome assembly, big data hacking, wildlife telemetry, science communication, student mentoring, and bias awareness. Symposia will include current topics in scientific collecting and conservation, GenBank to Redlist, murine model systems, Ecuadorian mammals, and urban mammal communities.

The two plenary sessions will feature student Honoraria and Fellowship recipients and the 2018 recipients of the ASM Grinnell, Leopold, and Merriam Awards—Drs. Denise Dearing, Steve Goodman, and Stan Boutin. And we are honored to have a capstone session focusing on the next 100 years of mammalian biodiversity and conservation, featuring Drs. Gerardo Ceballos, Kate Jones, and Tom Lovejoy.

A full social agenda also is planned and will include fieldtrips to the Smithsonian’s Museum Support Center, Cullman Library of Natural History, and historic mammal collection; the opening social at the Hyatt Regency; the annual Run-for-Research around DC; the picnic at the National Zoo; and closing social and awards ceremony at the National Museum of Natural History.
