The 2019 American Society of Mammalogists Conference will be held in Washington D.C. at the Hyatt Regency hotel.
Washington D.C. is serviced primarily by Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), located 20 minutes from the hotel in Arlington, VA. Rental cars, taxis, shuttle buses, and the Metrorail are either in the terminal or near by and available as transportation to and from the hotel. Before you depart, make sure you are prepared for the REAL ID Act.
Additionally, attendees may prefer to fly into and out of Baltimore/Washington International Airport (31 miles/55 minutes) or Dulles International Airport (28 miles/35 minutes). Another option is Amtrak via Union Station for rail (8-10 minute walk to Hyatt Regency), or if you prefer bus, the area is serviced by Greyhound and Megabus.
D.C.’s metro system has stations all across the city and typically has trains available every eight minutes. Every city has different metro systems, so we recommend that if you plan on using D.C.’s metro system that you familiarize yourself with it before hand to prevent confusion. You can visit this website to learn more about how to navigate the system, metro fares, hours, and etiquette.
While in D.C., you may find it helpful to use this website from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority to determine what station you need to go to, which train to take, when the next train will be available, and where to get off.
For the 2019 ASM conference we will be staying at the Hyatt Regency Washington. On Capitol Hill, the Hyatt is conveniently situated two blocks from the U.S. Capitol and close to the Washington Convention Center and D.C.’s most popular historic, cultural, dining, and entertainment venues.
We are continuously gathering more information about the 2019 conference and it’s venue, so check back later for more!
